Donald Teskey’s most recent paintings on canvas and paper show a master at work. His luscious use of paint - applied with brush and palette knife, excite the eye, ignite the senses and make one long for a deeper connection with nature. Teskey came to prominence in the early 1980s for his arresting draughtsman skills. His ability to capture the rugged and wild Irish coastline has become the bedrock of his repertoire, and frequent painting trips to North County Mayo remain a primary source of inspiration. With current travel restrictions in place, we see Teskey giving the same attention and dynamism to his local environs as he does the far-reaching North Atlantic coast.
