These previously unknown watercolors are a thrill to experience and show the immense depth of imagination and skill that Norma Morgan possessed. Her work began receiving increased recognition with purchases of her engravings by the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art, NY, commissions by the Library of Congress and Associated American Artists, and solo exhibitions in prominent NYC galleries. After these achievements, Morgan started to withdraw from city-life and find respite in rural Woodstock, which would become a second home/retreat until the end of her life. An avid hiker and a recreational-sport enthusiast, time spent in nature was essential, therapeutic, and an inspiring resource for her art. In these fantastic, late works, we see the artist using the valleys and gorges of the Catskill Mountain range as a backdrop in which her imagination can run wild.
