After an initial period of making a few abstract prints, Norma Morgan spent most of her time exploring nature and making extraordinary drawings and prints reflecting upon her experiences. She was an avid hiker and cross-country skier, and as with her art making, she maintained a clear and singular focus. She remained true to herself throughout her life. In later years when she was physically unable to enjoy the outdoors as she would like, Morgan could, with brilliance, tap into her fruitful imagination for inspiration. A Troll, Katterskill Clove, is one such example. A dazed creature emerges from the darkness into the glowing atmosphere of a magical forest. Skillfully executed and puzzlingly strange, the woodland personage emerges from a page of green and brown textures. These later works, beginning around the 1980s and continuing until her death in 2017, show a wild imagination and curious mind at work.
