Inspired by the natural beauty of his island surroundings, Trinidad-based artist Chris Ofili takes personal moments in exploring, hiking, and kayaking the coastal coves and translates them into monumental, universal, transcendental images. Seen from the inside of a sea cave looking out, a beam of light illuminates the strength and flow of a waterfall. Ofili’s choice of dry-point lines and elements of spit-bite aquatint (soft ground) and hard ground etching perfectly captures the various textures of rock, water, and light.
