Lynne Clibanoff is a printmaker, photographer, and sculptor who has dedicated most of her career to creating intricate miniature architectural sculptures and three-dimensional folded prints of empty interiors. Clibanoff's unique approach is to use optical techniques of forced perspective when constructing the rooms. The impeccable detail of the beautifully finished architectural features becomes the subject as doors, panels, archways, and stairs are composed and manipulated to appear smaller or larger than they are. Windows and skylights allow natural light to suffuse these intimate interiors with an atmosphere of mystery. The small scale and quiet light of Clibanoff's uninhabited architectural spaces invites one to escape a world amplified by excess by imagining ourselves in the certain tranquility of her miniature rooms.
