“City Plevins” is written on the back of this large, complex watercolor. Thrash’s use of the word plevins is curious and the definition we feel best suits Thrash’s use is, “a written assurance that some product or service will be provided or will meet certain specifications; a pledge that something will happen or that something is true.” Thrash gives a peaceful view of his North Philadelphia neighborhood where people are at ease. He made related works with this setting, an etching, Morley’s Court and a few watercolors that employ the red brick structure so familiar in Philadelphia.
