Pennsylvania Landscape, 1979, was made with a tender touch and surprisingly thin layers of oil paint. Careful modulation of tone builds an Autumnal atmosphere, recording the sensation of fading light filtering through the leafless trees. The overcast sky is reflected on the surface of a middle-distance stream. Patches of bright green play off the russet tones and speak to the not so distant Summer.
