IFPDA Print Fair: @ Park Ave Armory, NYC

At this year's print fair we will feature rare and important prints by artists affiliated with the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, founded in New York in 1948, and Communications Village, a community print workshop established by Benjamin Wigfall in Kingston, NY. 

From the historic and influential Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, we will showcase works by Robert Blackburn, Ed Clark, Will Barnet, Romare Bearden, John Biggers, Camille Billops, Betty Blayton, Elizabeth Catlett, Ernest Crichlow, Herbert Gentry, Krishna Reddy, Margo Humphrey, Dindga McCannon, Norma Morgan, Mavis Pusey, and Ben Wigfall. 

Wigfall, a follower and colleague of Blackburn, was inspired by his model and established Communications Village in Kingston, NY. As the first African American professor at SUNY New Paltz, he created opportunities for students to develop printmaking skills alongside established artists. Our presentation will include prints made at and related to Communications Village by Betty Blayton, Ernest Crichlow, Mel Edwards, Charles Gaines, and Gabor Peterdi—a mentor to Wigfall at Yale University—as well as works by Wigfall himself. 

In addition to these landmark printmaking workshops, we are proud to debut large-scale works by Steven Ford, Dexter Davis, and Nona Hershey. Also new to the fair are recent works by Todd Stong and Katie Baldwin, alongside contemporary masters Emily Mason, Norman Ackroyd, and Al Loving. 

We will present rare modernist masterworks by Dorothy Dehner, Adolph Gottlieb, Stanley William Hayter, Nina Negri, Betye Saar, Dorothea Tanning, Dox Thrash, Alice Trumbull Mason, and Alice Rahon.

Additionally, we will introduce prints by Black Mountain College artist Lorna Blaine Halper, alongside works by her mentor, Minna Citron. A late bronze sculpture by Elizabeth Catlett, Standing Strong, will also be on view.
